- Dougie Poynter $:

Dougie Poynter to me is an inspiration. He’s more than just my favourite member. He’s my idol. At 15, Dougie was already capturing his dream by leaving home to join McFly. The fact that he was so young and already reaching his dream inspires me to never give up on mine. He went through a lot with his Father and leaving school, yet he pressed through. He proved that age doesn’t matter if you have the right mindset. His talent and integrity got him where he is, and it is clear he worked hard to be the bass player he is today. Even before McFly, his previous band showed he was working towards his dream from such a young age. Unlike most famous teenagers, Dougie never ended up turning to the wrong side of fame. I love watching Dougie play, he puts his heart and soul into his preformances and I couldn’t help but pick up the bass guitar after Dougie. Not to copy him, no, but the way he pours all his energy into one instrument inspired me to try to the same. And I’ve never enjoyed a hobby more. It was also amazing to see how McFly shaped Dougie as a person. You can see through interviews, he goes from the shy, quiet, bass player, to the hilarious, adorable Dougie Poynter. His personality shines through his riffs, and comparing his bass riffs in McFLY’s first few songs to how they are in Above the Noise, they have become more complex and watching the speed of his hands on the bass guitar is something most amazing to watch. And the “Dougie Songs” that he writes with the rest of McFly, show how insanely talented he is. I hope one day I could be half as good as him. And that’s why, Dougie Poynter, the creative oddball, is more than my favourite member of McFly.

Dougie Poynter, not since forever, but forever, i promise! $:
